Although officially illegal in nearly all star systems of the galaxy, assassin droids are nonetheless constructed and deployed by many individuals and governments. Some assassin droids are actually modified versions of more mundane droid types, while others are custom-built for their work. Because they often need to act independently at length to carry out their assignments, assassin droids are usually highly intelligent. Most are equipped with a self-destruct function to prevent examination of their memories in the event of capture.
